Kinds of hosting services

A hosting solution implies storing and/or sharing certain web content on a web server managed by a website hosting supplier. There are various sorts of hosting services used for different ends, so let's explore these. Thus, you can determine what you want, based on whether you'd like to have a web site, e-mail box accounts, or to share files with buddies and associates.

- File hosting: a solution offered by certain vendors, which permits you to share big files. These could be disk images, films, audio files, archives, etc. This solution is also known as file storage, and its only purpose is to share files, since it does not offer web site uploading. The moment the files are uploaded, you will either receive an accidentally created download link for each of them, or you will be able to read a roll of all the files in a directory, but you will not be able to see .html or .php web site files in your browser. Free-of-charge file storage packages frequently involve ads by the download links, while a timer obliges you to wait for a given spell of time to view them. A single file can be downloaded with restricted speed. If you possess a paid file hosting account, there are no limitations as to how many files you can upload/download at once, and also there is no limitation with regard to the download speed or the file size.

At the moment, with the assistance of the cPanel hosting wholesalers, "file hosting" is being renamed to the more stylish "cloud hosting". This is a thoroughly incongruous explanation of the actual connotation of "cloud hosting". An actual cloud website hosting system would assign the workload between different packs of web hosting servers in a cluster, which are committed to serving various webspace hosting services (electronic mail, web space, statistics, DNS, databases, site hosting CP, etc.) So, the file hosting solution is only a type of a disk space hosting service, not a cloud hosting one. It's not even close.

- Image hosting: resembling file hosting; some companies offer a hosting solution for images only. This hosting variant is suitable if you want to share a huge amount of pics with chums or partners since the service is generally free. You will get a random link for each image or album and you can then share this link. As with the file hosting service, .html and .php files are not compatible, so the solution cannot be used for web pages.

- Email hosting: a solution committed to tackling your e-mails. Some companies offer hosting services for web sites, but do not provide an e-mail solution. If you wish to set up an email address with your domain name but do not wish to own a website, then the e-mail hosting service is what you want. You can open mailbox accounts and manage them, but there will be no web service for the domains. The email hosting service involves incoming POP/IMAP and outgoing SMTP mail servers.

- Video hosting: this service allows you to upload and share video clips. You can either share a link to a specific video file, or you can embed the video in your site that is hosted somewhere else. The advantage of utilizing this approach instead of uploading the video in a web hosting account is that the video clip produces a particular amount of central processing unit load, so with several video clips and a few hundred web page visitors, you may have a hard time with your webspace hosting supplies. Embedding the video file will permit you to manage as many video files as you wish without bothering about system resources.

- Web hosting: this is the solution that you require if you would like to possess a website. To some degree, it incorporates all of the aforementioned hosting categories since, along with your web pages, you can also host pics and files, you can set up databases and mail accounts, upload video clips, etc. At Hosting tube, for instance, you can have a glance at web hosting and dedicated web server hosting packages that allow you to get all of the aforementioned solutions in one single location. There may be restrictions depending on the form of hosting service that you've opted for - a free hosting account, a paid shared hosting account, a VPS or a dedicated server. Based on that, your web space hosting account may be better or worse compared to the customary email/file/video/image hosting accounts that are conceived for specific web content solely.
